San Carlo (5Star)
King Street West off Deansgate,M3 2WY. t: 0161 834 6226
A six minute walk from our Bloom Street Manchester Serviced Apartments. Walk up Bridge Street and it’s on your left.
This is without doubt the most popular restaurant in the whole of Manchester. Exquisite, authentic fine Italian dining, fresh seafood, superb service, great atmosphere and surroundings, this is the amazing San Carlo. They take the utmost care in their produce and fish supply. The waiters are all so friendly, the service impeccable the restaurant is faultless. Also the cost is not as high as you would expect for a restaurant in this class. It is advisable that you book for a Friday and Saturday evenings as it is always busy. The atmosphere is so good sometimes you have to shout to be heard…. talking of which this is also definitely the place to be seen as many of Manchester’s football elite choose to eat here. You will always be warmly greeted by Marcello the restaurant host and owner.

Piccalino
8 Clarence Street, Albert Square, M2 4DW. t: 0161 835 9860
Authentic, rich Italian food. Brilliant service and ambiance, attention to detail with a great menu. The Veal Milanese is a favourite of mine. You cannot ask for more than this Manchester favourite.

Rustica
On the corner of Blackfriars Street and Deangate.
Five minutes walk from our Manchester Spectrum Serviced apartment development. Walk out of Spectrum turn left, walk up Blackfriars into the city and its on your left.
This very friendly and welcoming small, family run Italian has been going for over thirty years. It is authentic and very reasonably priced, ideal for families. The kids will love the stone baked pizza and hearty lasagne. If you want simple Italian food, a place to relax without all the five star fuss then without doubt head for Rustica. We love it.
Restaurant Bar & Grill (5 Star)
above Panacea, John Dalton St, Manchester, M2 6JR t: 0161 8391999
A seven minute walks from our Bloom Street and Manchester Manchester Serviced Apartments. Walk up Bridge Street and cross the road over Deansgate, its on your right.
One of Manchester’s first contemporary restaurants. Still retains its modern stylish theme. The menu is always rotated keeping its edge. Never fails to impress and the surroundings are very cool in the first floor glass section. The ground floor bar area is a firm favourite with the professional set. The famous Panacea bar is located in the basement so this building really has it all.

Panacea
John Dalton Street, Manchester, M2 6JR t: 0161 833 0000
A seven minute walks from our Bloom Street and Deansgate Manchester Serviced Apartments. Walk up Bridge Street and cross the road over Deansgate, its on your right.
Although Panacea is famous for its bar the food is fantastic too. It has a thoroughly modern theme of dishes from around the world, a sort of Asian fusion mixed with western favourites. Booking a table to eat is a good way to guarantee your entry into the bar especially on a Saturday night when super busy.
Panacea has to be Manchester's most famous bar. At the time costing a cool £1m to fit out is still as popular as ever for the Manchester elite. If you are not known to the doormen I recommend you arrive no later than 10.30pm.

Akbars (5Star)
Liverpool Road, off Deansgate, M3 4NQ t: 0161 834 8444
A three minute walk from our Deansgate Manchester Serviced Apartments. Simply walk out of the building, turn left down Liverpool Road and its on your left.
This is now an institution. You are not allowed to visit Manchester and not eat in this wonderful, modern, Indian restaurant. In my opinion it is not just Manchester’s best Indian restaurant but for food quality, taste, freshness, service and atmosphere, it is in Manchester’s top three. The waiters work so hard to look after you and always serve with a smile. You have to order the huge trademark Nan Bread it is literally hooked onto a vertical metal plinth, has to be seen! You will leave wondering just how good it is. Part of one of the fastest growing restaurant groups, I predict you will soon read about Akbars in the Financial Times. Parties of eight or more can book otherwise just turn up. The bar is very relaxing. Enjoy.

East Z East
Blackfriars Street, off Deansgate, M3 5BQ t: 0161 834 3500
Walk out of Spectrum Apartments turn left head up Blackfriars and in five minutes its on the left.
Their first restaurant can still be found along Princess street but in a bold move they took space in the Edge building with fantastic views over the river Irwell. This is excellent for Padhotels at Spectrum as it is only a five minute walk away. The décor is modern contemporary and the all important food is excellent. The service is with a smile you will have a great evening at East Z East.

Shimla Pinks
Dolefield Street, off Bridge Street t: 0161 831 7099
Walk out of Bloom Apartments turn left walk five minutes up Bridge Street its on the right adjacent to the New Figaro hair salon.
This was the first of its kind moving Indian cuisine from the suburb to the mainstream city restaurants. The food is still as good as ever well worth a visit.

Wings (5Star)
Queens Street, off Deansgate M3 5LN t: 0161 834 9000
Queen street is half way along Deansgate across the road from the landmark ultra modern glass Royal Bank of Scotland building.
This is no ordinary Chinese and unusual in that it is not in China Town. This almost gives it elitist status in that it is an excellent restaurant first and a Chinese second! This is where the football meets China as many of the premiership players eat here. The décor is both traditional and modern. You will definitely have to book for a Saturday evening. Both the service and food at this restaurant are five star the best you will find in a Chinese in the city. The attention to detail is all down to the owner Wing who is always on hand to welcome you.

Yang Sing
Princess Street, off Albert Square t: 0161 236 2300
The Yang Sing is probably the most famous Chinese restaurant in Manchester. It was one of the first to open and has now become an institution. The owner Gerry Yeung has been instrumental in developing China Town. Beautiful food with a great atmosphere.

Chaophraya (5Star)
Chapel Walks, off Cross Street, M2 1HN t: 0161 832 8342
A few minutes from Deansgate and about a ten minute walk from our Bloom Street Apartments.
Chaophraya came from nowhere to be an instant success. Manchester had not experienced Thai food prepared to this high standard. The aroma and taste says it all. Again in one of my top three if you like authentic Thai food or you wish to try Thai for the first time then you must book and eat here.

Gaucho Grill (5Star)
St Mary’s Street, off Deansgate, M3 2LB t: 0161 833 4333
Down the side of House of Frazer about eight minutes walk from Bloom and Spectrum Apartments.
The Gaucho is famous throughout the UK and is also in London. The unique selling point here is that all the meat is from Argentina. You can choose all different cuts and sizes. If you like steak this has to be the best in the City. The décor is so stylish with its fur finish and the building used to be a small chapel. Quirky, filling, fun and great food….. you will not leave hungry.

Grill on the Alley
5 Ridgefield off, John Dalton Street t: 0161 833 3465
Across the road from Panacea and about ten minutes walk from Bloom and Spectrum Apartments.
A great menu well presented food with a laid back relaxed atmosphere. The speciality here is the cobe steaks. I believe that the cows are fed beer and massaged, quite a good life whilst it lasts! Great atmosphere and the service is excellent.

Sapporo Teppanyaki (5 Star)
Liverpool, Road off Deansgate t: 0161 839 4030
Simply walk out of our Deansgate Apartments turn left walk for a few minutes and its on your left. Next door to the Indian Akbars.
Amazing in every way. The highlight has to be the extremely talented chefs. They slice and dice and cook the food in front of you on a hotplate. They toss eggs in their hats and chicken in your open mouth. They juggle with their cooking utensils and make it all seem so easy. The menu and flavours are superb and the food super fresh. This is not just a meal out it truly is entertainment with great food. Well deserving my five star recommendation.

New Samsi
36 Whitworth Street M1 t: 0161 279 0022
There are now three Samsi restaurants in the city. Getting a great name for good honest authentic cuisine. Very tasty and well priced.

For the best City Centre Traditional Sunday lunch try the following restaurants. But you will need to book
Mr Thomas’s Chophouse
Cross Street, St Ann’s Sq t: 0161 832 2245
A ten minutes walk from our three apartment blocks. It is behind St Annes Church in St Annes Square. Both the Square and the Chophouse are well worth a visit.
It is called a Chophouse but really it is simply fine food. They serve amazing ‘posh’ fish and chips. Fantastic Sunday roast dinners and all your favourite puddings like spotted dick, sticky toffee pudding. Definitely a case for diet starts Monday. Very enjoyable on a Sunday but you will need to book in advance.

The Merlin
Alderley Edge, SK9 7QL t: 016255 99959
Well worth the 25 minutes drive south the food here is sensational. This is not idle chat it really is some of the best food you will ever have. The setting is in an old country manor house. The décor is very new and contemporary but in a country style. Big open log fires in the winter and the walk to The Edge is also very near. The views from the Edge are superb and you can even see the Jodrel Bank Planet Observatory. You will need to book. Definitely one of my favourite places to eat and relax.

Home Delivery
Dominos Pizza Delivery Service t: 0161 273 5666
Oriental Express Chinese food, 2 Bloom Street t: 0161 832 4646
Manchester is famous for its bar culture. The following list caters for every style and preference. Padhotels is pleased to recommend the following bars.
Panacea Bar & Restaurant (5 Star)
John Dalton Street, off Deansgate M2 6JR t: 0161 833 0000
Every city has one. By this I mean the number 1 bar, this is the place to be seen. From rock stars to International football players they have all frequented Panacea. The bar cost £1m to build and made from pure marble and the music is superb R&B and upbeat tracks. You will need to dress smart and arrive early to get in. The food is excellent so a good way to guarantee entry is to book a dining table.

Prohibition
Down the side of House of Frasers.
I have added this bar to the list as it is having a renaissance. The DJ’s are playing an excellent range of R&B music on a Friday and Saturday and really bringing in the people. It is not a large bar so it soon gets a good atmosphere. Recommended for an early visit on your night out to get things going.

Cloud 23
Beetham Tower, opposite our Deansgate Apartments.
t: 0161 870 1600
The view is simply stunning. Located on the 23rd floor of this sky high landmark glass building. You can literally see the whole of the city. It is Manchester’s very own ‘sky’ bar and has a huge choice of cocktails from around the world. Definitely one to impress so if you are feeling romantic and wish to blow your wages then this is the place! You will need to book for a Saturday as it is table service only.

The Living Room
Located on Deansgate t: 0161 832 0083
This was the original. The first of a chain now to be found around the Country. It is still a very popular place to have a drink and is good up till about midnight before you head off to a more club type venue. The busy nights are Friday and Saturday. You need to be reasonably smart to gain entry but it is much easier to get in than at Panacea. In all a nice relaxing bar that gets very interesting on a Saturday night.

Harvey Nichols Cocktail Bar
Located on the second floor at Harvey Nichols on Deansgate
t: 0161 828 8888
The bar is very chic, cool and bright. The design is very modern and comes complete with colour mood lighting. Not as mainstream as say the Living Room it is classy and the cocktails are fine. Perhaps more a place for a first date than a meeting up getting to know you bar!

Mojo
Back Bridge Street, off Bridge Street M3 2PB
t: 0161 839 5330
Mojo stands for ‘music for the people’ and that is exactly what it is. I imagine this is how Hard Rock Café would have started out before it became commercialised out of existence. If you like Classic Rock, Reggae, Beatles, Soul and Blues in fact it could be any music from any era then you will love Mojo. It really is a cool bar. You can wear what you like the atmosphere is very relaxed there is never any trouble the sound system is brilliant and you get served fast. I really like Mojo, a personal favourite and I’m sure you will too. Laid back rock bar, very friendly, recommended. Extremely busy on a Saturday so arrive early, Thursday and Friday are also good nights to go Mojo.

Printworks
Exchange Square opposite the Manchester Wheel
The building is vast and used to be the Mirror Group print works now host a variety of bars, clubs and restaurants. It is more a place for the 21 years and under but if you like you’re clubbing then you will find it all here. There are also some great restaurants such as Café Rouge and Nando’s.

Circle Club
Barton Arcade in the back alley off St Ann’s Sq. t: 0161 288 8116
The Circle Club just seems to get better and better. It will never be quite like the heady Hacienda days in the 80’s but it is a very cool place to hang out till the early hours. It’s a well run safe club, playing the best in dance and R&B, the DJ’s truly know what they are doing. It has also opened a superb new restaurant on the ground floor in the Barton Arcade, called the Kitchen. This is frequented in the main by a ‘good’ looking crowd that usually follow on from Panacea between midnight and 1am. Expect a 20 minute wait at 1am also you will need to be a member to get in. Alternatively you can call and book a booth in advance or become a member. Members can take two guests in so if you know anyone you are best to ask them to put your name on the door otherwise you will not be allowed in. Exceptions being football players, pop stars models and wannabee’s! Saturdays are very busy but Thursday night is also a great night. If you are looking for the ‘it’ crowd then this is where to find ……it, Good luck!
After a night out at the Circle why not stay at a Manchester padhotels four star luxury serviced apartment hotel.

Birdcage
Withy Grove opp Printworks t: 0161 832 1700
The Birdcage club is a tad commercial but it is great fun. On a Saturday night every hour the stage in filled with a dozen dancing transvestites! But it’s all in good taste. Playing all your favourite chart pop music and is a big favourite for hen parties. There is also a very big midweek student night. In all, a large, safe fun club.
After a night out at the Birdcage why not stay at a Manchester padhotels four star luxury serviced apartment hotel.

Tiger Tiger
Printworks opp Manchester Wheel t: 0161 385 8080
Similar to the Birdcage but without the Trannies! It is not as commercial but it is very large and set out on three floors. This is a great club and very popular. On a Saturday night it is heaving with hundreds of clubbers. The age group is around 23 years and below.
After a night out at the Tiger Tiger why not stay at a Manchester padhotels four star luxury serviced apartment hotel.

Opus
Also in the Printworks opposite Manchester Wheel t: 0161 834 2414
If you like your dance music then you will love Opus. It’s probably the closest you will get to an Ibiza superclub. The sound system is excellent. Probably a good idea to go online to see what DJ’s are playing.
After a night out at the Opus why not stay at a Manchester padhotels four star luxury serviced apartment hotel.

Sankey Soap
Jersey Street, Mainly Students t: 0161 661 9668
I am not sure how it got its name maybe something to do with foam parties! This is five minutes out of the city in a warehouse. It is pure House and Dance music and for those who remember very much like the good old Hacienda Club. If you know what you like then check online and go see. It’s good it’s guuuud.
After a night out at the Sankey Soap why not stay at a Manchester padhotels four star luxury serviced apartment hotel.

Ruby Lounge
Thought I would throw this one in the mix. Best described as a Lap dancing Rock Club! Not for everyone but every week they also have some amazing live tribute bands. Jimmy Hendrix, Aerosmith, Santana and the Doors to name a few. If you like rock music then you can do no wrong paying this venue a visit. The Saturday night promotion is called ‘Caged Asylum’ this might give you a clue as to what goes on here.
After a night out at the Ruby Lounge why not stay at a Manchester padhotels four star luxury serviced apartment hotel.
